A large crowd attended the Ballineen Foróige Young Engineers Exhibition in Cork last weekend. The event, who's key sponsors are Tara Tibbs Director Engineering and Maintenance Eli Lilly, coincided with the end of Engineers Week, which is a week long festival of events celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland.
The 6 week programme was set up to encourage young people, parents and teachers to explore the world of engineering, and was facilitated by Foróige Leader and Eli Lilly engineer Rebecca Dwyer.
At the exhibition last Friday, young people showcased their engineering projects to the wider community. The event also had a host of special guests including Michael Loftus, Head of Faculty of Engineering and Science, CIT, Margaret Murphy O'Mahony TD, Tara Tibbs, Engineering Business Leader, Eli Lilly, Stephanie Sheehan, VP Operations, Poppulo, and Seán Campbell, CEO, Foróige.
The overall winners were Ruth Forbes, Claire Forbes, and Laoise Markey from Ballineen Foróige Club, for their Safe Driving project.
