Earlier this month over 90 transition year students from Tullow Community School, Presentation College Carlow, St. Leo’s College, CBS, Presentation De La Salle College and Knockbeg College spent four days in Carlow College taking part in Module 1 of the Foróige Leadership for Life programme. Over the course of the four days, students learned the core concepts of leadership and gained skills in areas such as communication, teamwork, problem solving, critical thinking and self-awareness.
Congratulations to Aoife O'Neill (14), Crossbridge Foróige Club, Co. Wicklow, and Isobel Donnery (15) from Camross Loft Foróige Club, Co. Wicklow, who are through to the semi-final of the Aldi National Junior Baking Competition.
They beat stiff competition at the Regional Baking Final in Dublin yesterday, July 18th.
The theme for 2016 is ‘Muffins of the Moment’, with Isobel baking Lemon Drizzle Muffins, while Aoife baked Rose Chocolate Muffins.
Last weekend over 80 young people enjoyed a fantastic adventure weekend with their Big Brothers and Sisters in the majestic setting of Delphi Mountain Resort, Connemara, Galway.
Sandra McIntyre from Co Cavan has become the new Chairperson of for the organisation. Sandra has been a volunteer with the organisation for many years and will be a great asset to Foróige in her new role. She said in a statement:
"I am honored to be selected as the new Chairperson for the organisation and I want to thank everyone on the national council I feel very blessed today not just because of my election but for all the people Foroige has brought in to my life. A heartfelt thank you to everyone especially my club leaders and members for their support."
