Congratulations to Aoife O'Neill (14), Crossbridge Foróige Club, Co. Wicklow, and Isobel Donnery (15) from Camross Loft Foróige Club, Co. Wicklow, who are through to the semi-final of the Aldi National Junior Baking Competition.
They beat stiff competition at the Regional Baking Final in Dublin yesterday, July 18th.
The theme for 2016 is ‘Muffins of the Moment’, with Isobel baking Lemon Drizzle Muffins, while Aoife baked Rose Chocolate Muffins.
Last weekend over 80 young people enjoyed a fantastic adventure weekend with their Big Brothers and Sisters in the majestic setting of Delphi Mountain Resort, Connemara, Galway.
Renowned Munster Rugby player Robin Copeland signed up to the Foróige Big Brother Big Sister Programme earlier this year and is calling for others to follow in his footsteps and support a young person in need.
Earlier this year, Foróige launched the #BigBrotherBigSister campaign in a bid to encourage more volunteers to become “big brothers” or “big sisters” and spend some quality time with a young person who would benefit from having a mentor in their lives.
Male and female volunteers are being sought in locations around Ireland for the Foróige Big Brother Big Sister Youth Mentoring Programme. Volunteers spend 1 to 2 hours per week with vulnerable boys and girls. Big Brother Big Sister is an internationally recognised youth mentoring programme that forms supportive friendships for young people, inspiring them to brighter futures. The locations are as follows:
Mayo: Ballina, Castlebar, Westport, Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Louisburgh
Sligo: Town and surrounding areas
