The Teenage Health Initiative is managed and provided by Foróige and funded by the HSE Sexual Health and Crisis Pregnancy Programme. The Youth Officer of this project will work as part of the Foróige team in Coastal North Dublin. The initiative is a primary preventative programme and concentrates on the development of self-esteem, communication and decision making skills and aims at delaying the onset of sexual activity by young people. This is achieved by developing programmes that offer targeted, quality, flexible and sustainable youth work aiming to allow young people to achieve their full potential by strengthening their personal and social development.The target group are primarily young people aged to 12 to 18 years from across the Coastal North Dublin area. The project focuses on a primary preventive programme called REAL U. It is a personal development & sex education programme aimed at equipping young people with the skills, knowledge & confidence to develop healthy relationships and delay the onset of early sexual activity.
