GoSafely incorporates Foróige’s Connect Safely programmes which helps young people to navigate online spaces in a safe manner, as well as a series of underpinning best practice policies and guidance on safe online engagement, and social media good practice and safety guidelines. Foróige were commissioned by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to create the Connect Safely Programmes on behalf of the youth sector.

Connect Safely offers two tailored online safety programmes aimed at empowering children 8-11 years and young people aged 12-18 years with the skills and knowledge to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Both programmes help young people engage responsibly online, preparing them to thrive in the digital world while promoting respect and responsibility. Recognising both the risks and benefits of the online world, they offer essential guidance to promote safer, more positive digital experiences.

Covering topics such as cyberbullying, screen time and wellbeing, privacy, fake news, gaming and gambling, and online relationships, along with an emphasis on cultivating digital leadership and resilience, the programmes have been developed to engage young people in safe, creative, digital learning experiences where they can learn, connect, and be creative in an informed and empowered way.
