What is a Regional Conference/Seminar?
Each year a series of one day meetings are held around the country. These fun and discussion filled days are a really enjoyable way for members to have a say in Foróige, while also meeting other young people from your county or in some cases a neighbouring county too.
When and where do they take place?
The Conferences and Seminars are held in late January or early February.
They are generally held in a hotel in central location, and runs from approximately 11am-5pm.
What happens on the day?
The Conference or Seminar is facilitated by staff and adult leaders, and gives members an opportunity to learn about the structure of Foróige, identify issues that matter to young people, make recommendations about what the organisation can do to address these, and also to elect the members from the region to the Reference Panel.
How do I find out more about about my Regional Conference or Seminar?
The RYO, Staff Person, or Adult Leader will have the details for the Conference or Seminar taking place in your region.
Other things to remember:
- Members attending the conference should have at least one year's experience in Foróige - except where the club is new.
- Those going for election must be members of a properly affiliated club.
- The organisers of the Regional Conference must have their names in advance. If one of these cannot attend on the day, the club can send a substitute but these will not be able to vote or go for election.
