A Life of Choices

Every choice shapes us – but not everyone gets the support they need to make better ones. A Life of Choices is a behaviour-focused programme for young people taking part in Youth Diversion Projects, supporting them to understand their decisions, build new skills, and take more positive steps forward.

Developed by Foróige and widely used across the Youth Justice system, the programme helps young people explore how their thoughts, emotions and actions are connected – and what they can do to change course when things get tough.

Through 12 core modules and 16 optional ones, young people build skills in communication, empathy, impulse control, decision-making and more. Topics include anger, road safety, motivation, and offending behaviour – all tailored to the needs of the group or individual.

The approach is hands-on, reflective and empowering. It’s about valuing yourself, taking responsibility, and learning how to handle what life throws at you.

To date, over 300 Youth Justice Workers have been trained to deliver the programme, and it continues to be a key resource in Youth Diversion Projects nationwide.
