Big Brother Big Sister is the oldest and largest youth mentoring programme in the world.
It was established in Ireland in 2001 by Foróige and the HSE West.
It 2006 it was expanded nationally through Foróige, and is now available in 20 counties.
It is affiliated to Big Brother Big Sister International, based in Texas, which shares best practice for effective and sustainable implementation.
Affiliate associations are currently working in 11 countries, one of which is Ireland.
