10th June 2025
We are delighted to announce that Dr Wayne Travers has been elected as Chairperson of Foróige.

Wayne has a long-standing connection with Foróige, having first joined as a young person in a Club in Tallaght, Dublin. He later took part in the Leadership for Life programme, where he developed his skills and confidence through facilitation, teamwork and volunteering. He continued to stay involved – supporting projects, running programmes, and volunteering at national events. Wayne currently volunteers with the Big Picture Youth Café in Tallaght, and has served a number of terms on Foróige’s Board, including roles such as Treasurer and Chair of the HR and Remuneration Committee.
Wayne went on to study Pharmaceutical Science at TU Dublin, later earning his PhD in Organic Chemistry. His journey through education was shaped by the confidence and support he found in Foróige, and he remains deeply committed to the organisation’s mission.
Speaking at the Foróige Volunteers Conference in 2023, Wayne shared how the encouragement and guidance he received from volunteers helped shape his path, and how proud he is to give back to the organisation that played such a meaningful role in his life.
Wayne now brings his governance experience, sectoral leadership, and deep understanding of Foróige to his role as Chairperson. We are proud to welcome him into this position and look forward to the years ahead.
