2000 young people attend Band on the Strand 2017!

2000 teens gathered on Lacken Strand in Mayo at the weekend for Band on the Strand 2017 - a drug and alcohol free music festival.

They were entertained by: The Good the Bad and the Funky; Aaron; Steve Spade; Stolen City and Yellow Season. Facepainting, amusements, festival food and an older members tent were also on offer.

An excellent night was had by all and a massive congratulations are due to the volunteer organisers of an extremely special event.

Well done to all involved!!

Opportunity to take part in an Emoji World Record

On Saturday July 15th to celebrate World Emoji Day, Sony Pictures Ireland will take part in a multi-venue simultaneous Guinness World Records™ title attempt for the largest gathering of people dressed as emoji faces (multiple venues).


The event will take place at the Millpond in Dundrum Town Centre at 3.00pm and participants will need to be available from 1.45pm until 3.30pm.

Each participant will receive an official emoji costume to keep, a goody bag and tickets to a special screening of THE EMOJI MOVIE ahead of its release on August 4th.

Cúis Drug and Alcohol Youth Project Launched for North Dublin

The Cúis Drug and Alcohol Project's new premises was yesterday (26/06/17) launched by Minister of State at the Department of Health with responsibility for Health Promotion and the National Drugs Strategy, Catherine Byrne, TD in Linnen Court, Balbriggan.

Politicians, young people and friends of Foróige gathered to celebrate the launch including Mayor of Fingal Cllr Mary McCamley, Cllr Tom O’Leary, Senator James Reilly, Dara O'Brien TD, Louise O'Reilly TD, Paul Reid CEO Fingal Co. Council and Cllr Malachi Quinn.

Seven Foróige entries compete in X-HALE Youth Awards

X-HALE is an initiative of the Irish Cancer Society initiative that empowers young people to tackle smoking in their own communities and raise awareness about the dangers of smoking among their peers. This year, the X-HALE has seen 40 youth groups - including seven from Foróige -  from around the country making and promoting films around the issue of tobacco.

Foróige wins European Citizen's Prize!

Foróige has won the prestigious European Citizen's Prize for 2017, in recognition of the organisation's Youth Citizenship Programme!

MEPs Seán Kelly, Mairead McGuinness, Brian Hayes and Deirdre Clune nominated Foróige for the prize, which the European Parliament awards to projects and initiatives that facilitate cross-border cooperation and promote understanding within the EU.

A prize ceremony will take place in Ireland later this year, and Foróige will be represented at the annual Citizen's Prize awards ceremony at the European Parliament, Brussels on October 11th.

Foróige members among Keynote Speakers at Rediscovering Empathy Conference

Foróige members Ashling Dunphy and Ciara Beth Ní Ghríofa were among the Keynote Speakers at the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre 8th Biennial International Conference, which is taking place in NUI Galway.

The theme for the two day event is 'Rediscovering Empathy' - Values, Relationshops and Practice in a Changing World.

Ashling and Ciara Beth were among the guests exploring the topic 'Activating Social Empathy: Learning with and from Youth Researchers'.
