Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes visited The Big Picture in Tallaght this week to personally congratulate Foróige on winning the prestigious European Citizen's Prize for 2017, which was awarded in recognition of the organisation's Youth Citizenship Programme.
He toured the building in Tallaght, and spoke to young people from The Big Picture Youth Café Committee about their 2017 Citizenship project, which saw the members organise a "No Technology Night".

Foróige member Robin Duke is among the young people who have traveled to the USA to take part in The Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellows Summer Institute Programme at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The purpose of the intensive short term exchange program is to foster relationships among young Europeans and Americans, and to build strong linkages and an awareness of shared values. The four week program will enable teenagers, ages 16-18, to explore U.S.
A Los Angeles based, former senior vice president of Warner Brother films, Greg Durkin, volunteered as a film tutor in the Crib Project Sligo for a 1 day workshop on 17th of June.
The workshop was open to young people in Foróige clubs, projects and BBBS programme.

300 young people gathered in the Odeon Cinema Point Village yesterday to celebrate the X-Hale Youth Awards.
The awards are targetted at creating the next smoke-free generation and youth groups from throughout Ireland entered including seven from Foróige. To watch the Foróige videos click the below links.
The films from the Foróige groups were a very high standard and they won the following awards:
180 young people took part in the Blanchardstown World Cup over the weekend.
The event attracted 22 teams from across Blanchardstown, and from as far afield as Louth, Roscommon, Longford and Sligo.
Corduff Community Project won the inaugural Girl's World Cup, following a nail-biting penalty shoot out.
