YES! Youth Engineering Solutions: New Resources

The Youth Engineering Solutions Programme is an exciting and innovative Foróige project funded by the Science Foundation of Ireland (SFI).

The programme is supported by leading academic, industry and STEM education collaborators. Aimed at Young People 10 - 18yrs.

Live Out Loud: Celebrating LGBTI+ Young People

Live Out Loud: Celebrating LGBTI+ Youth event, from the Department of Children, Disability, Equality, Integration and Youth, was live streamed from the National Opera House, Wexford, on 25 June as part of Dublin Pride 2021. This event was a national celebration of LGBTI+ young people and shows how LGBTI+ youth are visible, valued and included across Irish culture, society and sport.

Shining With Pride: Foróige Pride Mural Unveiled

Foróige unveiled our Shine With Pride mural today. The artwork was created in collaboration with SUBSET. LGBTI+ young people from across Ireland engaged in a series of virtual sessions with the artist KinMx to share their lived experiences of growing up LGBTI+ in Ireland and come up with the messages they wanted the mural to communicate.

ReelLife Science national short film competition

ReelLife Science is a national short film competition, a great summer programme project or an add-on activity for STEAM programmes.
You can support young people of all ages to create a 1 - 3 minute film or animation, in English or Irish on an element of Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths. 
The competition is open to young people in Ireland and Northern Ireland representing their Youth Organisation, Primary School or Secondary School.

Young Entrepreneurs Shine Bright Through Adversity

The Foróige Youth Entrepreneur of the Year for 2021 was announced today with Tadhg O’Brien, 17,  from Louth taking the title for his business Scriptorium Pens

Handcrafted wooden pens take the top spot in the competition for young entrepreneurs 

Fiona Karki, 17, from Sligo wins the innovation category with a contactless pedestrian traffic light system.

Chop for Charity

Seventeen-year-old student Rebecca Staunton from Westport, Co. Mayo is currently doing the Leadership for Life programme. As part of her community action project for module 3, she launched a fundraising campaign for two local charities. She chose to raise funds by chopping off her ponytail!

Her initial aim was to raise €600 however, her campaign on Facebook has received donations from 71 people and generated over €2000 for her chosen charities. The big chop happened on Friday 30th of April.
