Foróige Calls for €15m Transformative Investment in Young People in Budget 2024

Foróige want youth work to be available to all young people in Ireland. For this to happen we need to resource youth work and programmes that are open to all, alongside targeted support for those young people who face additional challenges.

Our ask is for a €15 million transformative investment in youth work in 2024 as part of a Children and Young People’s Budget, with an additional €25 million across 2025 and 2026.

This will reach an additional 83,000 young people throughout Ireland.

Foróige Leadership for Life Conference 2023

350 teenagers from around the world gathered in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, for Foróige’s Leadership for Life Conference 2023. The conference, which was launched this morning on the grounds of NUI Maynooth, brings together young people from the USA, Ukraine, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, South Africa and Ireland to learn how to become leaders in their own lives.

Foróige welcomed into the Oireachtas for Digital Youth Showcase

Young people, volunteers and staff members from Foróige were welcomed into the Oireachtas on Tuesday 4th of July 2023 for a Digital Youth Showcase. ​​

The showcase focussed on how we can mitigate the risks associated with digital technologies and social media platforms, while empowering young people to use technology to their advantage safely and securely.

Members of both Houses of the Oireachtas engaged with young people from around the country who demonstrated youth work in virtual reality, coding, robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence and much more.

Foróige NFTE Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2023

‘Simply Soap’ was announced as the overall winner of the Foróige NFTE ‘Youth Entrepreneur of the Year Awards 2023’ at a ceremony held at Richmond Barracks, Dublin this week. 

Aimee Hegarty, Abbie Boyle and Aoife Smith from St. Catherine’s Vocational School, Killybegs, Co. Donegal won the award in the ‘Best Business’ category for their innovative idea which involves beautiful authentic hand made soap. The young entrepreneurs use a goats milk base which is rich in Vitamin E and highly moisturising to create these fabulous soaps in lavender, lemongrass vanilla and peppermint.

Foróige Tyrrelstown Youth Space Now Open

An Taoiseach Leo Varadker TD and Senator Emer Currie helped to launch the brand new Tyrrelstown Youth Space this afternoon, alongside youth workers and young people from the local area.

Tyrrelstown is one of the fastest-growing communities in Dublin 15, and has one of the most diverse populations in the county. The new Youth Space will enable more young people in the area to learn, grow, take part in youth work and get involved with Foróige programmes.
