My name is Máirín McGrath, I am 15 and from Newcastle Foróige Club, Co.Tipperary. On Thursday, June 13th as I was studying for my Junior Cert exams, I received a phone call from Foróige HQ. I was informed about a very important invitation from the US Embassy. Immediately excited at the sound of US Embassy I wondered what this invite could be. I was asked if I was available to go to Dublin the following Monday.

As part of the X-HALE Youth Awards (brought about by the Irish Cancer Society) the X-HALE Film competition has been launched. A number of Foróige projects and clubs have contributed 2 minute films on the issue of smoking. Peer pressure, health effects and other topics are addressed by the young people.

17 year old Katie Laffan from Walkinstown Foróige wins Hotpress Magazine ‘Big Break’ Competition

Katie Laffan, a Foróige member for 5 years has won the Hotpress ‘Big Break’ Competition, beating off serious competition from thousands of entries. The final shortlist of just five acts included Kodakid, Miracle Bell, The Scenes and Third Smoke. We caught up with Katie to a learn more about her phenomenal achievement!

3,000 teenagers attend drug and alcohol free music festival organised by Foróige volunteers

Thousands of teenagers from across Ireland travelled to Longford at the weekend to take part in Ireland’s largest drug and alcohol free music festival for young people. Now in its second year, the hugely popular Foróige HYPE Youth Festival proves that teenagers do not need drugs or alcohol to have a good time.
