A group of young Travellers who are members of Ballybane Foróige, and the Westside Youth Project, were involved in a takeover of Galway City Museum, last Friday.
As part of an initiative to make the museum more accessible to young people, the group ran the museum for the day, welcoming visitors, giving tours, and showcasing aspects of their culture.

It is the second year the museum has been involved in Takeover Day, a Kids in Museums initiative that celebrates young people’s contributions to museums, galleries, heritage sites and other cultural venues. It’s a day on which young people are given meaningful roles, working alongside staff and volunteers to participate in the life of the museum.
