The Ballineen Foróige Young Engineers Exhibition takes place from 8pm in Gort Mhuire Hall in Ballineen, Co. Cork this evening.
The project, who's key sponsor is Tara Tibbs Director Engineering and Maintenance Eli Lilly, encourages young people, teachers, and parents to explore the fun world of engineering, and members have been developing projects, facilitated by engineer, Rebecca Dwyer, Bioprocess Engineer at Eli Lilly, Kinsale.
The objective of the project is to generate interest and enthusiasm for STEAM subjects, particularly engineering, in young people’s everyday lives. They identify a problem, design a solution, and build a prototype, along with investigating the commercial viability of their results.
On the evening, there will be a free screening of "Dream Big: Engineering Our World".
The exhibition will be an opportunity for young people to showcase their projects and to engage with their wider community.
The event marks the end of Engineers Week, which is a week long festival of events celebrating the world of engineering in Ireland.
Engineers Week is coordinated on a national basis by Engineers Ireland’s STEPS programme - funded under Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover programme Call.
