We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Séumas O’Brien, former National Chairperson of Foróige (2004-2006). Séumas was a current serving member of the organisation’s National Council, a volunteer with Glanmire Youth Project and former Club Leader of Knockraha Foróige Club in Co. Cork.
Séumas was a tower of quiet strength and wisdom. He was a remarkable man who was driven by a deep concern for other people and a profound belief in the potential of every young person.
Séumas will be remembered for his outstanding contribution to Foróige and the youth of Ireland, at both National and local levels.
We send our sincere condolences to his loving wife Eileen, devoted children Derek, Aideen and Kate, his wider circle of family, friends and Foróige colleagues.
The Foróige Family, to whom he contributed so very much, will miss him dearly.
