Creative Tech Fest (#CTF14) took place on 30th October 2014 in Google HQ and Roscommon Techspace was there! The group took part in a number of workshops including scratch programming, a robotics maze challenge, 'Makey Makey' and a photowalk.

They also had an opportunity to explore the STEM Exhibition which was made up of Ireland’s leading innovators and education experts in areas of science, technology, engineering and maths. The main stands of interest to the group was Mission V who showed off virtual reality through Oculus Rift and NCAD who displayed 3D printing in action while explaining the process.

It was very interesting and the Oculus Rift was awesome”, said Louis.

One of the guest speakerss on the day was Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin who is an Irish broadcaster, maths lecturer, STEM educator and role model. She gave an inspirational talk about studying physics and mathematics and also the importance of girls taking up STEM studies.

Joseph Roche, Ireland’s Mars One candidate, gave an amazing and thought provoking talk based on the MarsOne project and what it would be like if he is sent to Mars in 2024.

On behalf of the Quad Youth Centre we would like to thank all at Google and Techspace for a wonderful experience.

It was a great trip and loads of fun”, said Jack.
