“Let's be Blunt" is an animation piece created by sixteen young people from Ronanstown Youth Service & Foróige South Dublin. It is a public awareness campaign by young people for young people. This animation provides information on cannabis, its effect, and the possible outcomes of its use. The animation came about as a result of an identified need around dispelling the myths of cannabis use among young people.
The Youth Voice on Cannabis
Through focus groups with young people it was highlighted that the information needed to be accessible to young people and they were very clear that it needed to be shared across social media platforms.
Young people worked for a week in February 2020 with Long Lost Creative Digital Agency to develop, design, storyboard, animate, and create voiceovers for the video. Over the following months, young people met to review and feedback on the updated edits.
The result is a brilliant piece of work that will be officially launched on the 27th of April 2021.
This animation was funded and supported by Foróige, Tallaght Drug and Alcohol Task Force, South Dublin County Partnership, Clondalkin Drug and Alcohol Task Force, Crosscare, Government of Ireland, Healthy Ireland, Pobal, CYPSC, and The HSE.
