A Los Angeles based, former senior vice president of Warner Brother films, Greg Durkin, volunteered as a film tutor in the Crib Project Sligo for a 1 day workshop on 17th of June.
The workshop was open to young people in Foróige clubs, projects and BBBS programme.
Greg got in touch with Foróige hoping to give something back to the community by facilitating a movie-making workshop for young people whilst holidaying in Ireland. His sister, two sons and nephew also helped out on the day. He mentored the young people in film making by helping them come up with ideas, showing them movies his own sons had made, doing a presentation, and showing them how to use iMovie on the iPhone to make their own movies.
Three groups of young people made their own films on the day which can be viewed here:
Denis O’Brien, Volunteer Development Manager said “this is a really good example of the benefits of short-term volunteering”.
