A Race Night held in aid of Foróige was organised by Dublin Friends of Foróige and held at Break for the Border on Thursday 30th January. Over €2,000 was raised in aid of youth work. Staff, volunteers, supporters and Foróige alumni turned out in their droves. The night was such a great success that we are looking into making it an annual event on the Foróige Calendar!
Foróige’s Christmas single was recorded on Sunday 10th November at Finnstown House in Lucan. Volunteers, staff and young people arrived in their droves to participate. The song is entitled “Calling you Home for Christmas” and has an emigration theme. The song will be in aid of Foróige youth services in Tallaght and Blanchardstown. It was composed by Gavin Byrne who is a Youth Worker at Foróige’s Computer Clubhouse in Blanchardstown. The cover art was created by Richard O’Connor who is a former member of the clubhouse.
A total of €80,006.36 has been raised by Foróige volunteers, youth workers and young people in a Tesco National Bag Pack which took place on the 13th and 14th September. All funds raised will be spent on youth activities and services in the locality in which it was raised.
Foróige Youth Services in Tallaght and Blanchardstown are coming together to produce a Christmas single to raise funds for youth work in these areas. The single will be called “Calling You Home for Christmas” and has an emigration theme. We’re looking for singers and musicians to participate. The recording will take place at Finnstown House in Lucan, Co. Dublin on Sunday 10th November from 1.30pm. We’re asking young people, volunteers, staff and supporters to come along on the day and lend their voice or talent to the project. There will be auditions to sing a line of the song, just like Band Aid!
'Strictly Foróige' will take place on Friday 8th November in the Red Cow Hotel at 8pm. The team at Foróige Tallaght have created this exciting dance event to help maintain youth services to young people all across Tallaght. 16 couples will perform on the night and will showcase a variety of dance styles based on their own interests and talent.
Foróige's Big Brother Big Sister youth mentoring programme and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship programme have been awarded a grant from the Tony Ryan Trust through the Community Foundation for Ireland . The purpose of the grant is to support children and young people in Tipperary to reach their full potential.
