This is Foróige’s new Charter of Rights in poster style. It was put together by young people. The poster can be displayed and discussed with young people. With these rights go responsibilities – so the Charter will only work if everyone takes responsibility for respecting them with each other.
The best way to do this is for young people to discuss what these rights mean to them and how best they can put them into practice (they could also express them through art, dance, drama etc). Here are some questions for discussion: How would we like to be able to express these rights in our club, project etc. What can get in the way of doing this? What will we do to help each other have these rights?
There is a companion booklet called Foróige Charter of Rights in Practice -Bringing the Charter of Rights to Life in Your Group. This has many practical ways of promoting these rights. It also gives more information on human rights – where they come from and why they are so important.
