A group of 15 Foróige volunteers and staff have completed the Reach Out 101 mental health awareness programme. The graduation and evaluation of the pilot programme took place yesterday evening in Cork. The programme was completed over 5 sessions and was carried out entirely online. The course covered an understanding of mental health including images of health, our knowledge of mental illness health conditions, safety online, talking about mental health issues, drugs, hints on how to be happier as an individual, identifying how to get help and how we can support each other. It was highly interactive involving video, reading, exercises, and games. The volunteers present who came from Foróige Clubs and the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring programme described how valuable and interesting the course was. Thank you to Derek Chambers and Fenella Murphy of "Inspire Ireland", the mental health charity who designed the course and who supported us in taking part.
