Today marks the 65th anniversary of the founding of the first Foróige Club, then called Macra na Tuaithe, in Mooncoin, Co. Kilkenny.

The meeting on March 14th 1952, was attended by Sean Moylan, then Minister for Education, and the Minister for Agriculture, Thomas Walsh.

Throughout it's history, Foróige has been a catalyst of social change, strengthening Irish democracy by building human potential and promoting its applcation in community life.

The organisation has always been to the fore in developing new initiatives to meet youth needs.

“It is in Foróige’s DNA to be innovative, creative and push the boundaries of possibility for young people, their communities and our country.”

Seán Campbell, Foróige CEO
