Film Installation

Young people from Foróige Dublin 15 recently took part in a film installation by visual artist Yvonne McGuinness. The new commission is part of Amharc Fhine Gall, and took place over the course of a number of weeks in Blanchardstown Youth Service with Yvonne and youth officer, Laura Quirke. It culminated in two very long days of filming in Portmarnock. (Amharc Fhine Gall is an annual exhibition funded by Fingal County Council's Arts Office in collaboration with Draíocht).

'Holding ground where the wood lands' captures five young men at a pivotal stage in their lives as they begin to find their place in the world. Performers include Jack Kelly, Garbhan Healy, Patrick O' Sullivan, Tadgh Harte and Jack D Kelly.

The installation was opened on Wednesday, November 22nd by the Mayor of Fingal Cllr Mary McCamley in collaboration with Draíocht. You can view it in Draíocht's Exhibition space until Saturday the 3rd of February 2018. Best to come when it's dark outside to capture its full impact.
