The Blanchardstown World Cup 2018

The Blanchardstown World Cup is an annual football event which has been hosted by Foróige in Dublin 15 since 2013.

The aim of the World Cup is to promote inclusion, diversity, and integration. It allows the participants to learn about different cultures from across the globe.

The event pits teams of boys aged 14-16 against each other in a tournament style format. Each competing team represents a different nation and they must research about the nation, create homemade jerseys, and design display boards for nations they are representing. This takes place in advance of the tournament and is incorporated into the various Youth Projects Summer Programme Schedule. The work of the young people is assessed by a judging panel who inspect the work and interview the young people prior to the tournament kicking off. From that a winner is chosen in the Research Category.

The Tournament runs over one day with each team getting a chance to compete for a trophy depending on their ability. There will be a minimum of 4 games per team with the eventual winners playing 6 games throughout the day.

On the back of an extremely successful first year in 2017 we will be running a girls section again this year coming. We are inviting teams of girls from across the country to take part this year again.
