23 young people from all over Ireland attended the European Youth Event (EYE), which took place at the European Parliament Seat in Strasbourg from 1st-2nd June.
It provided a unique opportunity for young Europeans to make their voices heard. During the event, which was attended by 8,000 young people from across Europe, they exchanged ideas and discussed their perspectives on youth-related issues, and took part in workshops on a variety of topics including “Equality: Fair share in the age of globalisation”, “Sustainable City: Global picture, local colour”, and “Political Parties: What’s Happened”.
The young people got the chance to meet with European decision-makers, including Mairead McGuinness MEP, Vice President of the European Parliament.
In preparation for the European Youth Event, Foróige held consultations in Dublin, Cork and Sligo in order to understand the issue that are important to the young people of Ireland.
