The Foróige-operated Port Garda Youth Diversion Project in Laois is one of 34 Foróige operated Garda Youth Diversion Projects (GYDPs) nationwide. Young people involved, or at risk of becoming involved, in anti-social or criminal behaviour are referred to Garda Youth Diversion Projects. They are community based youth development projects that engage young people by providing suitable activities to help with their personal development.

Foróige operated GYDPs are a partnership between the Irish Youth Justice Service (IYJS), Garda Community Relations and Foróige. They also receive second worker post funding from the European Social Fund.
