The Leadership Programme

Foróige has been developing the Albert Schweitzer Leadership for Life (ASLFL) Programme, the flagship programme of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce, United States (ICCUSA) Foundation, Inc. for the past year..  The ASLFL programme provides young people with the tools they need to develop their leadership skills and prepare them to become great leaders of the future. Foróige has been working with ICCUSA in Ireland and Internationally to further develop the programme.

The ASLFL programme is for young people aged 15 - 18 who have demonstrated good leadership abilities and aspire to being leaders in the future. The programme focuses on developing awareness, responsibility, interpersonal and communication skills. The overall aim of the programme is to enable young people to develop the skills, inspiration, vision, confidence and action plans to be an effective leader.

Get Involved!

Foróige will host the second ASLFL conference from 28th June - 2nd July in King's Hospital School, Dublin. There are 250 much sought after places available on the five day programme. Participants from across the globe will hear motivational inputs from inspirational leaders from the world of sports, politics, non-profit, media and business.  Another core component of the week will be workshops, where participants will have the opportunity to voice their opinions, become involved in lively debate as well as improve their skills and gain valuable leadership tools and knowledge. It will be an opportunity for young people to devise their own life vision and set goals for what they want to achieve when they return to their community and start out on their leadership journey.

It won't be all work of course there will be lots of time to unwind and have some fun. There will be activities and entertainment every evening, which will give all of our future leaders a chance to get to know each other and develop long lasting friendships.

Getting Started

To secure a place on the programme each applicant must complete a short application form stating why they would like a place on the programme. The application must be supported by a recommendation from an adult who has witnessed the leadership capabilities of the applicant. Often an adult volunteer or youth worker will recognise the potential of a young person before the young person themself. So, encourage members to get involved and reach their full potential. Even the best of leaders need a little encouragement every now and again!
