Consultation process for National Children’s Strategy Launched

April 01, 2011

The Minister for Children, Frances Fitzgerald, is calling for young people to get involved in the consultation process for the National Children’s  Strategy 2012 – 2017 from 4th to 8th of April. The purpose is to find out the issues of real importance to children and young people all over the country in order to inform the strategy. It will give them the opportunity to have their voices heard in relation to matters that directly affect their lives.

This project represents the Government’s commitment to the goals of the current National Children’s Strategy (2000-2010) and to the continued implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The National Children’s Strategy will influence and inform the work done by Foróige, so, it is vitally important that as many young people as possible engaged in Foróige Clubs, Projects and Services, get involved in this consultation process.

Questionnaires area available through schools and youthreach centres throughout the country. This is an opportunity for young people to articulate their opinions on what is good, what’s not good and what they would change about being a young person in Ireland today.
