There was a pleasant ramble down memory lane for past and present members of Kanturk Foroige Club on Friday 27th September. In excess of 400 people turned up to celebrate the Kanturk Foróige Club Gathering!
Special guests on the night were Seán Gallagher, Paul Finn, John Dennighan, Denis O'Brien, Declan O'Leary, Mairi McMahon, Seamus O'Brien, Siobhan O'Neill (Chairperson of Kanturk Community Council), Special Olympics Champion Kevin O'Connor, TD Michael Moynihan and Betty Kiely (Chairperson of the North Cork District Council). They all spoke very highly of Kanturk Foróige Club and the contribution that past and present members have made to their community.
A very special part of the night was a celebration of 10 years of continued success. All members past and present have every reason to feel justifiably proud of their achievements. Over the last decade Kanturk Foróige club has raised over €21,000 for local and national charities. There was a magnificent photographic display featuring the last 10 years in addition to a big screen which showed members participating in a host of local events such as fashion shows, Christmas concerts, variety shows etc.
The MC for the evening was Club Chairperson Sergiu Healy who was brilliant along with fellow officers Chelsey Carroll (Secretary), Bryan O'Connor (Treasurer) and Joe Murray (PRO). Eight clubs from North Cork attended on the night along with parents, family, friends and supporters. It was fantastic to see so many people supporting Kanturk Foroige Club members and volunteers. Foroige in Kanturk is well respected, loved and here to stay - that's the message!
