Foróige is delighted to have been asked to partner with The Clarinbridge Oyster Marathon for its inaugural event. The event that consist of three running distances (marathon, half marathon and 10k) will take place in the picturesque village of Clarinbridge and the track is predominantly based in the beautiful woodlands.

The marathon allows volunteers, parents, staff and alumni the opportunity to fundraise money for their club or another charity should they wish to do so. The amount of money fundraised is at the discretion of each person/club. If fundraising for your Foróige club please use the official sponsorship card which you can obtain from me directly.

The hope for the event is that the young people in the Foróige club would support the volunteers, parents, staff and alumni in preparing for the event. This may be through organising team training nights through the club across shorter distances and health and wellbeing programmes.

Participants may never have run before and this is a great way to get motivated with the support of a club behind you. The marathon can be run as a relay race so you can really make it a team effort. The organisers of the event will be offering support and encouragement for those that register through a Facebook group where they will offer training tips.

The event takes place the same weekend as one of Ireland’s longest running festivals, the Clarinbridge Oyster Festival which celebrates the heritage of Clarinbridge and its famous oyster industry. So bring your running and dancing shoes!!
