As part of Foróige’s Youth Citizenship programme, we will be running a national showcase event on the theme of Celebrating Young People as Creators of Change. The aim of the event is to recognise the wonderful contributions to their community that young people have made over the period July 2012- July 2013. It is about celebrating these young people who have made a real difference to the world around them and enhanced the quality of life of their fellow citizens. There will be a system of commendation for projects that excel.
The event will occur in October during mid-term break. The closing date for entry is May 31st 2013. This is so that groups/clubs will write up their projects while they are fresh in their minds. However if clubs/groups have not yet completed their project they can send in the expression of interest form by that date and enter their project before July 31st 2013.
This showcase is open to all clubs/groups that are affiliated to or connected to Foróige. Please encourage groups who have carried out a community project to enter. They do not have to be "big" projects. They could be simple activities that had a profound effect on the young people and on others in the community. We will celebrate them all.
