Belturbet was busy on Saturday 5th October with local cowboys and cowgirls heading to a Barn Dance in aid of Foróige. Music was supplied by ‘The Shuckdodgers’ and they did not disappoint on the night! The venue was decorated with American flags, bales of hay and bunting.

We had fantastic prizes on the night including gift vouchers from MacNeans Restaurant, The Kilmore, Cavan Crystal, The Slieve Russell, The Shantully Inn, The Lavey Inn and a beautiful wrapped hamper from Cara Pharmacy.  The lucky winner of the MacNeans voucher was Ciara Fallon and the best fancy dress prize of Sunday lunch for 2 in ‘The Old Post’ went to Annie McGovern. We would like to say a massive thank you to all who supported the event by attending, giving donations and sponsoring our prizes. Also a big Thank You must go to the Francis and the staff in the ‘Seven Horseshoes’ in Belturbet for their support. A great night was had by all and over €2,000 was raised.

Cavan ‘Friends of Foróige’ organised the event to raise vital funds for the youth organisation that engages 56,000 young people and over 6,000 volunteers on a yearly basis. By supporting the event, people have invested in the young people of Ireland.

Foróige provides many services in the Cavan area including Foróige Clubs, Foróige Youth Cafés, the 365 Garda Diversion project and the Big Brother Big Sister mentoring programme.  Foróige also offers opportunities for young people to get involved in Leadership, Citizenship and Entrepreneurship programmes.  The friends group is made up of former and current volunteers of Foróige. Former members and supporters are also very welcome to get involved!
